VISIT OF THE DELEGATION FROM THE GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY OF UZBEKISTAN TO MTA ON 15-16 APRIL 2024

Mr. Maksud İSOKOV, Rector of the Geological Sciences University of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the accompanying delegation visited our institution on 15-16 April 2024.

The delegation visited Director General Mr. Vedat YANIK in his office right after attending the opening ceremony of the 76th Geological Congress of Türkiye.

Afterwards, a meeting was held with the Uzbek side with the participation of the Director General, Deputy Directors General, and Department Heads of MTA. During the opening remarks, the Director General mentioned the existing work between Türkiye and Uzbekistan in the fields of geosciences and mining and expressed his wishes for the meeting to bolster the existing cooperation between the two institutions. Rector Mr. Maksud İSOKOV made a presentation on the activities of the university. During the presentation, Mr. İSOKOV expressed his thanks for the support of MTA until the time being and his interest in benefiting from the know-how of MTA in the future. The Director General, expressing his belief in the mutual benefit of the two countries through cooperation, noted that MTA is ready to share all the accumulated knowledge since its establishment with our brothers and sisters from Uzbekistan.

The delegation visited Mineral Analysis and Technology laboratories and Martyr Cuma DAĞ Natural History Museum and had a meeting with the Director General of MTAIC, Dr. Nail YILDIRIM, to receive information regarding the ongoing activities.

Being finalized with the joint work of Uzbek and MTA sides, the “Memorandum of Understanding between MTA and Geological Sciences University of Uzbekistan in the field of Geosciences” was signed on 16 April 2024 by Director General Mr. Vedat YANIK and Geological Sciences University Rector Mr. Maksud İSOKOV.
