1:100 000 Scale Geological Maps Of Turkey
General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) has produced various scale geological maps in order to clarify this complex geological structure, to reveal energy and mineral potentials, to predict natural disasters, and in order to produce earth-science data used for engineering structures and urban development plans, since it was established.
There are 394 number 1/100.000 scaled map sheets in the terranes of Turkey. 1/100.000 scale geological maps, which are obtained from 1/100.000 scale geological mapping studies and prepared from transferring 1/25.000 scale geological maps to 1/100.000 scale maps, are archived in both analogue and digitized forms.
In the context of the Project on Publication of Small Scale Geological Maps, 311 maps of 394 number 1/100.000 scale map sheet with booklets (~%78,9) have been published since 1986. 29 maps of all these have been re-prepared and their 2nd editions have been performed by updating these maps. Legend information of the exposed rocks within the research area is presented both on maps and booklets. 158 maps of these have been prepared by means of GIS-based softwares and finally were transferred to digitized forms.
1/100.000 scaled geological maps, which are produced by Department of Geological Research of General Directorate of MTA, are available to public institutions, universities, private sector, natural persons and corporations in return for a nominal fee.
