Analysis Laboratories Division
- Coal Analysis Subdivision
- Analysis Monitoring Subdivision
- Geochemistry Subdivision
- Water Analysis Subdivision
- Analitical Chemistry Subdivision
To perform, ore, rock, mineral, water, and solid fuel analysis within the framework of the projects that are scheduled at the working program of the General Directorate. To perform analysis of the samples provided by mining industry related, governmental and private institutions and third persons. To perform analysis within the framework of the temporary exports regulations. To be in charge as an arbiter laboratory
Coal Analysis Subdivision
All kinds of physical and chemical analysis of import intended coal fuels (imported lignite coal), import intended industrial coals (imported lignite powder coal, petro-charcoal, anthracite, metallurgical charcoal etc.), and local coals (anthracite, lignite) and bricks produced using these coals are performed in this subdivision. Laboratory scale project studies about coal are also performed. In addition to this properties of the coal samples collected throughout exploration of Turkish coals are tested in this subdivision. Due to the arbiter property of the laboratories, the analysis reports of the subdivision is determinative on coal samples over which two parties are in disagreement. Analysis are performed in accordance with ISO Standards. If specifically requested TSE standards are also applicable. On the other hand the percent results obtained from the equipment are in accordance with ASTM-ISO standards.

Analysis Monitoring Subdivision
- SAMPLE REGISTRATION TASKS Acceptance and pricing of all kinds of samples arriving to the Department of MAT, Sample preparation, Forwarding of the samples to the related subdivisions, Forwarding of the analysis results to the interested people, Performing the necessary paperwork concerning the analysis, Preparation of monthly expense reports of the laboratories.
- OPTICAL SPECTRAL ANALYSIS Semi quantitative element analysis of soil, rock, sediment, core and metal samples are performed by optical emission spectrograph-direct current technique. By this analysis fast results are targeted by directing further tasks to be performed.
Geochemistry Subdivision
The duties of this subdivision are determined taking into account that geochemistry is a science that involves subjects where both geology and chemistry are interested. Geochemical prospecting studies: This is based on the determination of the geochemical anomalies related to the ore mineralization, by measuring one or more properties of materials such as core, rock, soil or sediment. Measured properties are generally the concentrations of rare earth elements or some groups of elements at ppm or ppb levels. Geochemical analysis concerning metal prospections: Au, Ag, As. Mo, Sb, Cu, Pb, Zn, Co, Ni, Bi, Fe analysis are performed by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer that is present at this subdivision. Concerning the gold analysis, the detection limits are as low as 2 ppb by use of graphite furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer

Water Analysis Subdivision
All kind of water (sea, geothermal, surface, underground and drinking water) analysis. Heavy metal analysis with very low detection limits required due to the increased environmental awareness.
